Put your heating on a timer

Most modern boilers are programmable. Save gas by only having it timed to come on when you need it, and at a sensible temperature range.

Make sure your insulation is up to scratch

Without decent insulation, even the most efficient central heating system will leach energy and cost you money. Make sure your walls, doors, floors, windows and roof are well-insulated against heat loss. On a more practical note – shut doors in the house to keep heat inside rooms.

Get your boiler serviced

A boiler past its service date may underperform, costing you money and potentially putting you at risk. Book a service with our Gas Safe Engineers and fix issues that could be causing your heating bill to creep up.

Consider reducing your hot water temperature

If your boiler produces water at a higher temperature than needed or used, you could be quite literally washing money down the drain! Turn hot water down to 60° on your boiler panel and benefit from reduced energy consumption – plus peace of mind that no children in your home can scald themselves.

Check your boiler pressure

If your boiler pressure is too high, it causes the system to overwork for less output. This inevitably ends up costing you money! Check that your boiler pressure is both stable, and between the numbers 1-2. This is especially important to check if you’ve not been using your boiler for a long period of time.
